Sanjay Behuria has senior executive level banking experience for over 30 years. His specific competences are: Strategy – Internal Resource Analysis, Strategic Plan and Implementation; Banking – Product development, SME, ALM, Treasury, Risk Management, Financial Inclusion and Branchless Banking; Microfinance – Product development, Capacity building, Value Chain Financing, Access to Finance; Business Development – Building relationships across the Globe. Mr. Behuria has lived and worked in India, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, UAE and USA. He has also delivered consulting contracts in Namibia, Palestine, Maldives, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Mozambique, Peru, Mexico and Bangladesh.
Atilio Mbwilo is our Country Program Manager for Tanzania. He holds B.Sc. in Agriculture – rural Economy from Sokoine University of Tanzania. He has over 20 years experience in the Development sector. He has over 17 years experience in Project Management with World Vision Tanzania, during which he managed projects in livelihoods, rural development, agriculture value chains, water and sanitation. Well versed with the rural areas of Tanzania, he leads our micro-franchise initiative.
Mr. Sono holds an advanced diploma in sociology, diploma in computer science, Certificate in personnel management and child rights; he is currently pursuing advanced diploma in Early Childhood Development. Sono is professionally qualified on program cycle management and have strong grip on research planning, social policy analysis, gender transformation and adolescent girls programming. Sono currently works with Amani Girls Home (AGH) as program manager, prior to this role he worked as program associate in Fadihili Teens, Tanzania; also worked for AMREF Tanzania, Kuleana Tanzania, National Institute for Medical Research NIMR Mwanza Tanzania, African Youth Trust.
Sono had successfully attended several trainings on organizational development, gender main streaming, life skills, NGO management, leadership skills, research skills and policy advocacy from AMREF, IYF, MEM/MMEM, UNICEF, Kuleana/Ireland Missionary, National Institute for Medical Research, Masindemulilo University of Science and Technology – Kenya, African Youth Trust, MSTCD Arusha and MSTCDC Arusha Tanzania.
Mr. Mathew holds a Bachelor Degree of Arts in Education (2006) from the University of Dar es salaam. He is competent in Project Management, micro-soft office packages, Quicken and QuickBooks accounting packages. He grips good knowledge in broad spectrum of community development work as a result of his experience in working with NGOs and other social development entities. Currently Mathew is managing Litenga Holding Limited as Chairman and CEO which is working majorly in the area of Agriculture, Rural Development and Innovation. Apart from Head office at Dar-Es-Salaam there are two more offices one is Lake zone office situated in Mwanza and another one is Southern Highland office situated in Songea (Urban).
Prior to Litenga, Mathew preformed key roles at Feed the Children Tanzania to ensure that children, youth and women are facilitated in social economic development particularly through Food and Nutrition, Health and Education Water, Sanitation and Hygiene and Livelihoods development programs. He also directed and managed Wino Vocational Training Centre for four years, a vocational training centre for the under-privileged youth focusing on providing Education, skills and entrepreneurial know how for children and youths as an alternate to child labour, at this capacity he was one of the experts in developing Tanzania Youth and Employment policy, 2008. Since 2010, he is working with Feed The Children Tanzania as the Country Director as an overall in charge of all managerial, programming and financial planning or requirement of the organization operations in Tanzania. Mathew is having more than 10 years of experience.
Mr. Gerold is working with Litenga since December 2012 in different capacities, currently he is serving as Director of Finance and Investment. He holds earned a BBA degree in Accounting and Finance from SAUT in 2009, prior to his current role he served with Feed the Children project and Africa Consult Inc. His responsibility includes financial reporting, investment analysis, cash flow management, provide management the latest and relevant financial news and event, preparation of annual budget and proposal writing for bidding new projects. Gerold holds more than 5 years of experience in the field of finance and investment.
Mr. Joshua holds a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Economics and Agribusiness (earned in Aug 2013) from Sokoine University of Agriculture; his expertise lies with knowledge, skills and experience in agribusiness, economic development, Business Strategies, planning and research. He also holds good grip on Project Management, Business Development, Planning and Business Proposal writing. He joined Litenga in September 2014 as Agri-business Development Officer and takes care of Songea operations of the company. Prior to this role, he served as a Lead Enumerator for a USAID funded project and as a Research Assistant for ECD project funded by Hilton Foundation.
Mr. Samwell holds a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Economics and Agribusiness (earned in Aug 2013) from Sokoine University of Agriculture. He joined Litenga in November 2014 as Agribusiness Development Officer, his work responsibility includes report writing, project management and implementation, capacity building of farmers, group management and other administrative branch related work. Prior to this role he served with Barclays Bank as a Lead Generator for 10 Months.
Mr. Kelvin holds a graduate degree in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (completed in 2005) from Sokoine University, Morogoro, currently he is working with Humbaro Distributors Limited as a Manager. His expertise lies in supply chain management of agri-inputs, capacity building of farmers on best agri-practices, setting up demonstration plots and vendor management. Prior to his current role in Humbaro, he served Arysta Life Sciences as Technical Representative and Bytrade (T) Ltd as Zonal Sales Representative. In all Kelvin have more than 10 years of experience in the field of sales and marketing of agri-inputs and vendor management.
Ms. Mary holds a MA in Educational Planning and International Development (2009) from University of London and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work and Social Administration (2005) from Makerere University. Her expertise lies with research, program management, business planning, marketing planning, business communication and report writing. She joined LHL in July 2014, other than her role for LHL she is supporting project staff of LBC – Songea. Prior to her current role in Litenga she served as Project Leader (MYC4 Project) at Better Life for Tanzanians Trust Fund (BELITA), Assistant Lecturer Sociology in Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Teofilo Kisanji University – Mbeya, Volunteer-Projects Development in Mbeya Non-Governmental Organizations’ Network (MBENGONET) and Hope For All Organization, Program Manager in Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Support Program – Caritas Uganda and Special Correspondent on Women Issues in Africa with the Global South Development Magazine by Silver Lining Creation, Finland. She is having more than 10 years of experience.
Ms. Beatrice completed her bachelor’s degree in Statistics from University of Dar es Salaam in 2013; she is also well versed with various statistical packages like SPSS, CS Pro, STATA and PH Stat and have experience in data collection, data entry, data analysis and report writing. She joined Litenga in October 2014 as a business data analyst, she is supporting the ALPs LBC project through research planning and data analysis process. Prior to LHL, she worked as Program Assistant and Field Trainer in Feed The Children program. She also have a strong grip on community development skills, training, savings and loan, M&E and GPS mapping. In all Beatrice have more than three years of experience.
Mr. Yohana is creative and hardworking social entrepreneur; with the desire and ambition to develop in the broad field of Agro business. He has sound academic background in Entrepreneurship and business management. Well-developed skills in agro value chain i.e. Rural agro project managements; Agro sourcing; Processing; Trading and Placement; Business plan development and implementation; report writing and good interpersonal and communication skills. He has proven business leadership skills involving of developing, managing and motivating teamwork to achieving organization objectives. He holds BBA degree in entrepreneurship and MBA in Corporate Management, before setting up MSK in 2006 he started his career as Senior Field Officer in Olam Tanzania Ltd. and worked in Tanzania, Malawi, Kenya and Zimbabwe in agro sourcing, Storing, Processing and Logistic management during 1998-2005.
He also earned various awards for his work and establishments in the area of Sunflower production, project conceptualization, most successful mid-sized companies, market based solutions for smallholder farmers and value chain enabler. MSK also received a grant in African Enterprising Challenge Fund (AECF/AGRA), the project focuses on enhancing both cotton and sunflower value chain and will benefit 30,000 farmers in contract farming practice by 2017 in Mwanza region.
Ms. Mariam is employed with MSK and is working since October 2014; she joined the LBC – Misasi project under ALPs since its inception. Mariam holds a Bachelor degree, diploma and certificate in social work, she also earned a certificate in basic computer education from Open University of Tanzania. Her current responsibilities includes overall project management, establish communication between LBC and MSK, demand/production assessment, supply chain management and inventory management. Mariam is working as volunteer in various community centered program since 2007, she also worked as field worker for various programs on demand based work. She possesses more than 8 years of experience.
Mr. Emmanuel holds a graduate degree in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness from Sokoine university of Agriculture. He is associated with ALPs – EBP project since June 2014, and is responsible for managing day to day operations; this includes group training, group meeting, external and internal communication, report writing, data collection and project management. Prior to this he worked as a sales representative in IGCL, Mwanza for short duration. He holds good knowledge on Business Strategy, Entrepreneurship, Economics and Farmers groups. He also possesses sound experiential knowledge on Project Planning and Evaluation, Business Planning, Credit analysis, Social Researcher, as well as Market Information and Communication. In all Emmanuel holds an experience of 2 years which includes the traineeship under different projects other than ALPs.
Mr. John holds a certificate in general agriculture from MATI, Maruku College. He is associated with ALPs – LBC project in Misasi since January 2015. He is responsible for establishing a business center in Misasi district and help it achieve sustainability in short run. His work includes mobilizing individual members into groups and these groups into federation, with underlining activity as Sunflower farming. John possesses mature understanding of community development work and holds good grip on the business management. John is also well versed with different local languages, English and French. In all, he holds an experience of less than one year.
Mr. Ernest holds a certificate in general agriculture from National Sugar Institute, College of Agricultural Training. He is associated with ALPs – YEG project under NYPBC and is serving since November 2014 at the project site. He is responsible for individual member mobilizing to form a common activity group, after which training, market linkage, financial linkage follows. Ernest holds a good hold on poultry keeping activity and is very well versed with the group management skills, entrepreneurship skills, and business skills; this helps him to strategize and plan the training for the group members.
Mr. Dondo have more than 37 years of experience, he is an experienced manager, microfinance expert, distinguished trainer on governance, leadership and possesses extensive knowledge of informal sector in Africa. He had worked in several countries of Africa continent, some includes Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Somaliland, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. Currently Mr. Dondo is associated with an independent consulting organisation in Kenya which advises government, companies and NGOs in the areas of value chain and microfinance. He has handled several large market research projects, baseline surveys, monitoring and evaluation work and capacity building assignment in different parts of Africa. He has also served as a distinguished member of board to several local and international organisations.
Mr. Fred Azaria is most experienced in our Tanzania team, he completed his Masters and Bachelor degree in Agriculture Economics from Sokoine University of Agriculture in 1992, a mid-career education. He is serving as Executive Officer in Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) – Dodoma region; prior to this he served as Senior Planning Officer and Project Management Officer as PMO. He also served as Board Member of Vocational Education Training Authority (VETA), Board Chairman of Veyula Rural Technical Training Centre, Board Member for Non-Government Organizations Network for Dodoma Region (NGONEDO) and Board Member of Tanzania Coalition for Sustainable Development (TCSD). His current responsibilities includes private sector development in Dodoma, coordination on lobbying and advocacy issues to the public sector in the region, facilitation of market and investment linkage to local and international traders and investors. He possesses more than 37 years of experience in development sector, most of it for Dodoma region.
Ms. Maria is a qualified social worker with over 2 years of experience in providing high quality care and support to people who are socially excluded or who are experiencing problems in their lives. She has a consistent track record of working successfully with individuals, families and groups, within a variety of settings. She possesses an in-depth understanding of relevant legislation, procedures and techniques required. Extensive knowledge of social work principles, techniques, practices and their application to complex cases group work, and community issues. Currently Maria serves as a board member of Livelihood Basix Tanzania.
Mr. Sylvester Jotta holds Master of Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Development from the University of Dar es Salaam and is now working as Head of Department and a lecturer at St. Augustine University of Tanzania (Mwanza). Prior to this appointment he served as Country Representative of HYTES a Canada based NGO, Assistant Lecturer for Entrepreneurship and Marketing in St. Augustine University of Tanzania (SAUT). With entrepreneurship education background and experience in Small Enterprise Development, Business Consulting, Business Formalization, Technology Transfer and Innovation, Marketing Research and Monitoring and Evaluation of Reforms, Sylvester has worked in these roles showcasing deep insight and excellent management, strategy, execution, interpersonal and communication skills coupled with a high degree of professionalism and ethics.
He has a penchant for new and innovative ideas and solutions for improving productivity, efficiency, reducing costs, social entrepreneurship and better management for businesses, educational institutions, governments, private organizations, consumers, etc. He has dealt with new enterprises where he played a vital role in promoting youth self-employment project at Busega and Misasi in Simiyu and Mwanza regions facilitated by African Livelihood Partnerships (ALPs). In all Sylvester holds almost 8 years of experience in and around Youth Entrepreneurship.
